Well saved up just enough money to head off on my next trip. The plan now is to leave NZ on the 17th Jan and head to Breckenridge, in Colorado, for 2weeks where myself and a mate (Ferret) will catch up with some friends who just happen to own some sleds. So on the agenda is Filming with Reason films and just getting back into things! Then its off to Salt Lake City, Utah, to catch up with big chunk of the Queenstown crew and continue filming with them!
After this if the money holds out its off to Mayrhofen, Austria, to spend a few months there and do some work and also continue filming. Ben from Reason films is going to be with ferret and I a lot of the time but also has big plans of filming with a crew of Aussie boys at some stage….Reason Films is in the process of bringing out a dvd with Australia and New Zealand snowboarders so keep ya eyes out for that one!
I’ll be in touch again soon!! PCE.
oh yeah “get a DEW in ya!” I hear its the drink for New Years!!!
Made it to Canada! On Vancouver Island staying wit my rellies for xmas and the local Mt Washington received 120cm fresh pow in the first two days’ we were here! Wicked riding!
Ill be sending photos’ soon! I was able to get a sick travel bag for my new Volkl board Volkl gave me before I left for racing! And some sick outterwear from 540’s! So all set and I’ve had some sick pow days riding in the trees and all! I’m gearing up for the big race!

I drove back home to Gisborne from Chch almost three weeks ago, it was a 20 hour straight mission, to keep me awake I was doin’ the dew like a fat kid does cake. I also nailed about three pies on that stint, that last one was such a battle to eat… I’m pretty over them for a while… So anyway, I got back on a Friday morning at around 8am, and had the Corona surf comp on the Saturday, so didn’t exactly have the ideal build up! The surf for the comp was really quite bad for the early heats like mine, gutless 3 ft Makorori, I’ve got no excuses really, but had a few mediocre waves and got knocked out. After that I gave a few Mountain Dews to the competitors and spectators then I went and took out my frustrations on Wainui beach. It was all time. 3 foot grunty waves, the odd barrel and smashable sections. I had such a good surf… if only that heat was out there!! I hope to make it to at least one more comp over summer.
I’m working in Giz for summer for Works Infrastructure, helping manage a huge roading project and amped to be finally applying some of my engineering knowledge I’ve learnt from uni! I’ve been thrown in the deep end a bit with quite a bit of responsibility, but really enjoying the challenge. There’s been some random shit go down, for example, today alone we had a dumbarse truck driver take out a power line and I had live wires flying at me, then we had some drunk driver almost take out our traffic controller (thata??s the sophisticated name for a stop/go man), right as a cop was going past. This car was such a heap, and worst of all this dude had his kids in his car. What a clown! Slightly more amusing are the odd rough carload hot-boxing out their car as they drive past. Ahhh… the joys of working on the east coast….
So the plan for summer is work hard to save $ for uni, surf hard, and a bit of partying it up with mates. Rhythm and Vines should be pretty huge too!
Heres a coupl’a pics. the surf ones were from out on the peninsula in chch just before I went home, stoked as with the shot of my turn…

Cheers,
Robbie
Whistler is cranking. It’s the best start to the season I’ve ever seen with over 4m of snow falling so far. Park hasn’t even been an option with this much snow. It’s like mid Jan. Pillows and cliffs everywhere.

Delays on the highway are happening from my 86 escort beater, but it gets though any conditions to the mountain each day.

Hey,
Rail Comp in Aotea sq in Auckland, put on by Rome and Snowcentre, was pretty fun and very entertaining.
The set up was a lil sketchy and the rails a bit steep and short for my liking but everyone gave it a go and things turned out pretty good. After a dramatic start with a rider (Gumbie) hooking his edge as he rode in and riding off the side of the setup, saving himself by swinging on the scaffolding but unfortunately hitting one of the crew and cutting his arm.
After that riders had a short warm up and then it was straight into judged runs. The Snowplanet groms were out in force and riding well. There was also 5-6 girls ripping and throwing down some mean tricks!

As the pack got cut down I ended up in the final 5. Three hits in the final and best tricks counted. I kooked it and didna??t land the frontside 270 onto the downrail that I was going for so that counted me out and it went down to Dillion and one other dude that had such dope style (sorry cant remember name). Dillion won with a f/s 270 onto the flat down box and claimed a new Rome Agent snowboard for his efforts, yeeeyah!
There were some live bands playing on and off over the 4 hours which was good for riders and onlookers so cheers to them. Anyways thata??s bout it.
cheers to the organisers, pce.
