What up crew! Just another update from sunny California
We havena??t had any new snow but have still been having a great time riding in the park. Went to Northstar last thursday had a great day on the rails – filmed for one or 2 runs on Robett Holiss’s cool new camera phone so check out www.nzsnowboard.com for updates there. The jumps had short landings so didn’t really get into those as I have been spoilt at Sierra. We did however check the stash run out at the end of the day. Its a run full of natural terrain molded for snowboard and ski freestyle fun. It has all natural products and is mostly a bunch of tree slides, stalls, bonks and so on – it has a hut which u can ride up and back down or pop over the top which is dedicated to the memory of craig kelly one of the pioneers of freestyle snowboarding. It has some huge road gaps with the kickers made out of trees too, Unfortunately due to the lack of snow it has been shut but as soon as it snow i will be heading up there to score pillow lines and have fun in the trees.
Friday was a very amazing day at sierra riding with my boy Bevan Hall he managed to discover the dodgiest pillow line ever in the trees off the side of a run it was rock takeoff to pillow over a tree and another snow covered rock. We had obsoletely no idea what was lying at the bottom but super coach Jody Blachley stepped into the unknown – it turned out to be reasonable safe and he and Bevan both survived their rag doll experiences. I dropped last and was the only1 to stick it – so stoked. But the smiles and laughs didn’t stop there we decided to ride the rest of the run back to the bus one footed which was all fine and good until Jody instructed me slide a flat box on my boot – I actually thought I would stick and just have to put my board back down on the snow and push off but it slid amazingly well. So well I landed flat on my back much to the boys amusement but all this provided much amusement for the North Island kids we are coaching as they had taken a speedy run down and had saved us seats on the bus.
Saturday we rode night park at heavenly which was fun. We convinced the grommets to come out after X Games of course which was just massive over here – pretty much every tv was tuned in – cant wait to see how the super bowl is in a week or 2.
Apart from that not much to report i am getting loser and closer to getting one of my goals to land all four sevens in a day. Last time I jumped I had all four fives in the morn and i got 2 sevens and some cab9′s so yeah pretty happy with that – i have been riding heaps of rails but definitely want to jump as much as possible but we think we will set up some street rails as soon as the snow comes. Riding lots with some amazing kids from new jersey so that is a lot of fun – we are hoping to go to alpine meadows tomorrow morn to ride a really fun jump line – i think its 5 jumps in a row and then maybe Northstar for jibbing some rails in the arvo.
Been hooking into the Mountain Dew Code Red its great stuff and there a Mountain Dew energy drink which is advertised too – i think i’ll have to get my hands on a box for all the early morn starts we’ve had recently.
cool catch all you NZ based players in a month or so
peace tim
hEYA!
The World Uni Games are all over, I had a the best whirlwind time on and off the snow!
Check out Studentville on C4 coming up in April to catch all the action and craziness of the universaide! Hamish the cameraman man followed us NZ teamers around for some solid good times! Was stoked I could show him round in the 18th century village of Bardonecchia and Discos, not to mention the closing ceremony in Torino!
I unfortunately tore something in my knee, so the competing was so average, completely gutted, wasn’t my usual powerhouse rider ripping the course up, but I know what I have to do to compete with riders from around the world, some who were Olympians from 2006!
I represented NZ to the fullest and made heaps of mates from around the world! Id tell anyone who’s thinking of going to go no doubt! Such good times I might even consider doing another paper to go again in two years time!
Cheers to Poland, Bulgaria and Slovinia fo sho!!!!They know how to party!
Catch ya on the flip flop!

Yeah it’s snowing!!!! I must have done some wicked snow dances!
About 20-30cm last night! We have something to RIDE!
Starting training today, but gotta say, my knee is still a pain for real, so just hoping I can make the whole course of the boardercross:( Hamish from Studentville is here and we had a sweet time checking out Torino with him yesterday.
He’ll be filming all the races then a tour around this village and the closing ceremony so all you kid’s at home can see the hap’s!

Hey Guys,
I just found out we are no longer able to organize the event at X*Air as we are so restricted with time and it makes it pretty difficult to organize everything from over here.
I just flew up to Sydney last night and am getting ready for the 3rd stop this Thursday friday. Thankfully this stop is a good site and I will really be able to unleash everything. The first two stops were a bit restricting with the conditions and course setup.
After this stop I will be heading up to Queensland for a week riding and preparing for the final tour stop. I am currently 13th on tour standings, not as bad as I thought I was doing but considering I finished in 10th last year I would like to raise that and get into the top 8.
I will let you know how I go at this stop.

1th of Jan at 12.30pm i reached my destination New Plymouth this is where the 2007 New Zealand Nationals was to be held……however the Nationals didn’t actually start until the 17th of jan for the girls as there were a group of NZ juniors attending the pro junior in OZ, this gave me a good 5 days to settle in and surf the different surf breaks Taranaki had to offer…..which was basically any road that lead to the beach you were sure to get a wave in and a quality one at that! There are so many great set ups around Taranaki coast lines a lot of rocks and reef which aid in the quality!
You had to make sure you had a plenty of gas in the car though because it is a bit of a hike to the different breaks! All worth it tho, Yes there was swell, not huge but plenty to have some fun on!
17th jan the girls competition was held at Stent Road, swell was up and also the wind, offshore……I opted to take my board that had more foam and boxier rails to help with speed into the wave as it looked a bit difficult………..I ended up choosing well, and found two beauty waves to give me the score to win my heat knocking out two top seeds Misha Davis and Jess Welsh…so i made it to the semi finals…..
Semi Finals were held the next day at Stent road again…..swell was still there but i really wish that i had decided to take my more maneuverable board out this time…..I got one great wave where i rode it from way out on the point right into the shore but was stuck for time as i needed to get another good scoring wave……I knew it would be close still but i just lucked out this time….coming third in the heat where the top two get through into the finals…….
A disappointing 5th place for me, I guess top 5 doesn’t sound too bad its just that i knew i could have got it! and i expect so much of myself!
After the nationals I flew to the South Island back to my home in Kaikoura……..so great to be home such an amazing place….I went straight out for a surf at my local and it was a fun size and shape to, such a great feeling! yah Stoked again! and ready to take on the next comp!
I’ll be going back to Oz on the 28th so will let you know the haps over there!
Heres a pic of me and Soph together in the naki:

Hey ya’ll, Summertime!
At Bardonecchia Italy staying at the Olympic village they used for the Winter Olympics in 06!
There’s athletes from all over the globe, mostly Skiing and snowboarding is in my block, Lycra is everywhere! oh yeah! did i die and go to lycra heaven?!
The snow conditions are sheit, Its warm as and worst than the baddest season in NZ, less than 20cm right now! they’re forcasting snow in two days, both fingers crossed…. or the boardercross and GS will be held on Ice with Mud and slush with grass and waterfalls to dodge!
They’ve delayed the racing untill the 25th-GS, 26th-BRDX and 27th Halfpipe,It’ll snow!
I’ll keep ya’ll updated fo sho!
Keep it real!
Peace! Jenna:)
Well I just got back from the nationals up in Taranaki……..I got to the semi finals in the open women’s and then just missed out in getting to the final……I was so bummed because I know I could of had it! ran out of time needed to get another good wave
anyway top 5 placing… the girls were ripping and I had a great time………..did a few interviews and got some photos….also I took photos for MD when I was up there so I will send them through ASAP.
I’m in the South Island at the moment, had a surf yesterday at my local; Meatworks Kaikoura………..was so fun, so awesome to be surfing back here again!! was actually rather crowded with a lot of crew from away……I was the only girl out and got most of the waves though so that was rad
! yay Angies back…..I’m going to see if I can catch up with a photographer verve and hope to get some shots…..
Hey guys and gals.
Hope NZ summer is treating everybody well. Plenty of waves to be had and those hard core guys getting the shred on at Snow Planet. Whistler has had a little break from record snow falls and popped the sun through for a few days of -15 temps. Doesn’t do good stuff for old non fuel injected cars.
Just spent a few days down in Washington state, USA with NZ Snowboarder photographer Greg Roebuck shooting some back country photo’s. Greg is one of the most experienced backcountry riders I’ve ever met, he is just as solid shredding gnarly lines as is at shooting other people doing them. It was awesome to ride with someone so dedicated to getting wicked shots who can also offer solid advice and point you in the right lines. The snow and terrain were epic. We had a slid dump the night I got down there and couple of cold bluebird days to follow. Everyone was claiming the best conditions of the season.
The trip was pretty sweet until about 20 minutes away from getting home to whistler when the rear axle of my 79 jeep decided to snap. The wheel came flying off with the axle still attached to it grinding the car to a halt. I couldn’t even find the wheel till the next morning cos it was down a small snow bank.

Here’s a couple of low quality images until I get some better ones.
The first is some night pillow lines one powder night in whistler.

The second is cat track gap up at blackcomb.

Enjoy summer
