I’m off to Oz on friday. Gonna go catch up with some mates that are over in Perth or just south of. Should be fun getting a bit of summer in and hopefully some surfing!!! Gonna go work and try to save to so we’ll see how it goes.

paddle your brains out

Hey hey,

On Friday night I entered in the Wellington “Paddle Your Brains Out” Paddling race. It was held at Freyburg Beach (Oriental Bay) and we had to paddle out around the fountain and other bouys – I have been told it was roughly 2km.

All the money fundraised went to Surfaid!!

I went in the longboard division and won, check out this video below to get a better idea of the event!

Hey,

The 3rd and final mini episode of the Kids TV show Trick Tips aired on TV 2.

Watch it here . . .

I’m in Wellington at the moment but will be back in Chch from tomorrow onwards. Had an epic last 2 days at Turoa. Soft snow and sun!! STOKED!!

new surf video

Here’s some new footage of me… more coming soon…

My course is going great over on the Gold Coast!! We just had a free surf and bbq to end the surfing performance sessions off until next semester! Exams are coming up in the next two weeks and have assignments coming out my ears but i have always made time for lots of surfing :) we have just been filming a lot and starting to get some cool footage now…

csnz raglan conference

Over the long weekend I went up to Raglan with the Titahi Bay Christian Surfers to the CSNZ conference. Had a real awesome time, good waves even though it was onshore, good leadership training too.

Everyone loved Mountain Dew after the surf. I gave away some as prizes as well when I spoke about Indonesia trip on Sat night.

Here’s some random pics from the weekend…

spring….

The blossoms have fallen from the trees and the ski fields have closed so we all know that means that the surf will be coming into more people’s focus over the next coming weeks. There is little to be said for my poor performance on the blog side of things , sorry! I have had a decent winter of fun but also have been busy as with my last semester at university (hopefully). I have had about 15 days snowboarding, including two mint as powder days at Broken River and several fun days playing in the Porters terrain park this season. There was the odd visit back to the old faithful, Mt Hutt, including the CUBA surf and snow day which a friend of mine, Daisy Thomas and I felt the need to gate crash.

It was a fun day with small 2ft Brighton, followed by a bbq then a trip to the Mountain for an arvo riding. Having the simple ability to do be able to do something like this in ChCH is something i was keen to wag a day of school for and it certainly was quite fun.

At the end of august I had ten days on the Goldcoast before driving down the coast in a Wicked Camper to Sydney. Managed to score pumping waves at Snapper and also whilst in Newcastle. How nice it is to surf proper waves. Speaking of which, I’m heading to the coast, for a contest called the Bay House Cape Classic in Westport, so hopefully it goes well!

south to north : the mission to get to ohakune!

I bailed out of Chch after a week of chilling. The plan was drive up to the Snow Trade Show in Parmerston North, Catch up with the crew and then head to Ohakune for spring.

The drive up was super mellow. Got on the ferry all good and arrived into Parmerston North with time to catch up with Hamish Caunter, Harley Anderson and some other shred dawgs.

The Snow Trade show is definitely an interesting place a?? basically anyone and everyone that is a wholesaler or retailer for anything in the snow industry comes together to checkout, sell and buy next years products. Snowboards, Skis, telemarks, bags, wax etc etc. From pogo sticks to random ski contraptions a?? the show had it all a?? well a lot of stuff you wouldna??t need to snowboard but at least K2, Ride, Option, Rome and Technine all had a presence so all was not lost. It was Classic to see non snowboarders, skiers and punters trying to sell snowboards and snowboard products to snowboarders.

Above: Willie Beggs, Nick Hyne, Holler, Spy and Jamie Basett

Some of the 2008 stuff looks super rad so be on the lookout in your local store next season for all the fresh gear.

Above: Carl Dunham holding it down with the Tech Nine 2008 Range

A few riders also turned up to see what all the fuss was about including Mitch Brown with Vans, Rip Curl and Bataleon, Nick Hyne with Ride and Smith, Carl Dunham with Rome and Tech Nine, Leroy Christensen, Shelly Gotlieb and the infamous Willie Beggs.

An Trade Show afterparty went down that night in Palmy with all the snow crew turning up. From the underage 17 year old jibbers to 65 year old skier wholesalers and more reps than you could poke a stick at the trade show was definitely an experience. The trade show packed up and we all bailed the next day. Off to Mt. Ruapehu and OHAKUNE!!!!!!!

I rolled straight into town with Mitch, Adam from Bataleon and Matt from R & R and it was straight to get our dressups for the Glamrock Dressup FTB Eesa release party at The Kings Bar at the Junction. Me and Mitch got a room at the Powder Keg (Cheers Daz) and we picked up Lil Leroy and some costumes with help from Moreen and we were set.

Willie Beggs rocking out at the FTB Party in Ohakune

Long story short it was an epic night with Rhys holding down the D-Floor, Robbie having his ears pierced with 6 safety pins, Willie Beggs rolling the tightest pink lycra pants, Hemi crumping, Rangi getting rawkus on the glass, Adam Dero-programme buying a round of 30 shots, Dutty and Hyneken crashing in the man flat and Munroe getting a sweet pasha?¦. Ohhhha?¦. Living the KUNE dream!!! Later on in the evening Munroe challenged Rangi to a shot at the title – full WWF wrestling styles which ended in Munroe in the fetal position and in full submission.

Above: A look up Turoa from the bottom of the 6 seater

But we actually have been riding too. Yesterday we hit up Turoa. The snow softened out nicely and there was some super fun lines to be had. We rode with all the crew including Ross Lind Mitchell, Dan Fountain, Leroy, Heath, Shelly, Sam etc etc and even that computer geek Harry Harallambi came and snaked me in the park. The new 6 seater chair up there is sweet a?? ita??s fast and opens up so much more to ride. Ia??ll be up here for a while so wea??re playing the waiting game with the weather. Peace.
