Coronet…One last session. September 29, 2008 by Jeremy Thorns (Snowboarder)

The fresh snow that fell on Saturday has convinced the crew at Coronet to crank it up again!!! Yup Coronet reopens tomorrow! If you are in the zone get up there and slash that fresh stuff. With more snow forecast it might be a good end to the season! Yeow!

remarkables turns it on! September 29, 2008 by Jeremy Thorns (Snowboarder)

After the clouds cleared and the hangover eased there was an epic day to be had up Remarks on Sunday. With 15cm of fresh and a bit of wind loading there were some epic lines being shralped.

The snow was as good as any of the powder that has fallen this season. Ben from Reason Films was up there doing his thing and piecing together another episode of Diaries Downunder which will be up on nzsnowboard.com in the next few days. With a mean crew up there including Heath Patterson, Nick Hyne, Nick Brown and Shelly Gotlieb there will be a few hammers to watch for sure.

Slashs, barrels, jibs and park jumps to powder are all in there. Uh son, check it like Trent!

Cardrona powder September 28, 2008 by Robett Hollis (Snowboarder)

Hey,
Just had an epic day up at Cardrona. 30cm of fresh and first tracks all over the hill… GOOD TIMES!!! No big lines or anything… EPIC!!!

This weekend is the NZsnowboard.com Riders Poll Awards up at Snow Park to finish off the season. It’s going to be a huge one for sure celebrating the year that was.

Fresh snow!! September 27, 2008 by Jeremy Thorns (Snowboarder)

With fresh snow almost falling on the lake winter is back for a little while. There is a chance of one last powder day as Remarks has had a top up of snow last night and this morning. It looks as though there is about 20cm fresh up there so get up there tomorrow if you can. With 2 weeks left of the season get up there and make the most of it. Remarks still has a fun park setup with loads of jumps and boxes to hit up.
Hope everyones had a mean season

Stylewars Update from Heath Patterson September 21, 2008 by Ambassadors

Whats up,

I’ve been doing Stylewars this week. The comp ended up being judged on a big air jump for 3 days which was kinda lame but they did build us an 80ish foot transfer jump. ” the landing was 30 degrees to the right” kinda like a hip jump but if you came short it wasn’t nice. They also built a 75 foot table with a raised landing which was kinda fun. Pretty much 3 days of tucking up for speed, pointing it down the whole resort to jump over dirt. I got some cool footage and photos which I will hopefully have through next week.

It’s lucky I’m still walking though; I caught my toe edge on the knuckle of the Big Air jump and made both my knees go numb for about 10 minutes, after the doc said I was ok I stretched a little then got back into it. More importantly though; we beat Australia by about 100 points. Oh and I got a few shots on t.v. and some footage and an interview for Fuel T.V.

Heath

Spring time and Ruapehu September 19, 2008 by Nev Lapwood (Snowboarder)

It’s spring on the mountains now and the sun is shinning. I managed to sneak in a few day up Turoa on Mt Ruapehu. Haven’t been there in years but it’s actually where I grew up boarding. It never fails to disappoint with heaps of natural terrain and a fun little park. With the amount of snow they’ve got this year it may also be one of these seasons where they still open to nearly christmas.

Last week down at Snowpark we filmed a new halfpipe lesson for SnowboardAddiction.com so that should be edited and added to the program soon. Check out the site to get he world’s best online freestyle coaching.
