Crazy storms in the Goldy May 28, 2009 by Angie Koops (Surfer)

angie-profile-clear-70-newAll of last week the Goldy was smashed by the craziest storms, it wasn’t surfable for a while but it was exciting to watch!

This morning I had training about 400 metres South of my house. “Man” I didn’t realise the extent of the damage until today. Down my way we weren’t hit quite so bad but a few metres down from us there are many beautiful houses just teetering on the edge of the sandy cliffs. Where they once had nice lawns, trees with fences in front is now just a few metres to a 6 metre cliff to rocks and the waters edge. We had the combination of freak high tides and a big storm which produced destruction to the beautiful coast line. Yesterday morning while I was surfing out the front of my house I saw trucks carting tones of sand back and forth from down our end now I realise what for!
