Sounds like its gona be a sweet day at the beach and good comp to come along to. Fun day at the beach for everyone!

Comp postponed due to no surf…Stoked!! December 31, 2009 by Kirk Beyer (Surfer)

I wasn’t looking forward to trying to compete in small waves this weekend, and now I dont have to!  Surfing New Zealand have postponed the Mount leg of the Hyundai Pro longboard tour until further notice! Here’s the press release:

Small Waves Stall Beginning of Hyundai Pro Longboard Tour
Thursday, December 31, 2009

Next to no surf on the entire north east coast of the North Island combined with a poor swell forecast for the coming days have forced the postponement of the first event of the Hyundai Pro Longboard Tour scheduled to take place at Mount Maunganui this weekend (2-3 January 2010).

The event was to be the first of five major events held throughout New Zealand including one new event location (Dunedin) and a change to the National Longboard Championships which is now being held as a separate event.

First comp of 2010 December 30, 2009 by Kirk Beyer (Surfer)

The Hyundai Pro Longboard Tour is about to begin for 2010!

The first contest is this weekend, 2nd and 3rd of January at Mount Maunganui.

Im heading up on Friday in the van full of heapsa Mountain Dew. Im gonna be walking the beach giving away Mountain Dew when I’m not competiting so come find me for a drink.

The weather report for the weekend is looking pretty good but unfortunately the surf report isn’t looking as flash, check it out below. Im taking a 10′ board for the small waves so that I can atleast stand up if its as small as the report is saying it will be!

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Weekend away December 30, 2009 by Kirk Beyer (Surfer)

A few weekends ago my wife Mel and I went away to Castlepoint with some good friends of ours. We booked a bach which turned out to be this wicked house on the hill and had awesome surprises like a quadbike with the key in it sitting in the garage!!

When the surf was flat me and my mate Marty went down the beach and did some skimboarding behind his parents landcruiser, it was all good until I fell off at high speed and bent my knee back the wrong way. I heard or should I say felt it crack… and that was the end of that.. I was the new driver for the rest of the day!

We woke up on the Sunday to epic sunshine and fun 2-3ft surf at The Gap with offshore winds! Surfed all arvo! Fun times!
