2010 LG NZ Wakeboard Nationals
April 28, 2010 by Brad Smeele (Wakeboarder)
Last weekend’s ‘LG Wakeboard Nationals’ was insane!!!
After flying back from Qtown I set off on a half day packed full of errands; picking up banners, packing whatever clean clothes I could find, grabbing material for the rail that was yet to be completed, etc… and then hitched a ride down to lake Karapiro.
Once I got there I set off on making progress on the rail, after getting it all lined up and the material ready to be cut I discovered that some of the tools were not fully operational.. So with the help of a few friends we put the Eco-decking on the top surface of the rail, by that time is was well dark and we were getting eaten alive by mosquitos so we left the rest for the next day.. The rail made it in the water in time for the open mens heats that afternoon thanks to a lot of help from many people with building and lifting it into the water… Thanks again to you all!
Due to the fact that I am out of action due to a knee injury I have taken on the MC roll for the Nationals and other events.. I had a great time on the mic but as you can imagine it was extremely frustrating watching from the sidelines.
Have you seen it yet???
Here’s some video footage of my time in NZ…

Ye ole front board….
Hey Guys, The season has come to an end and after dropping back my Spaceship to the Spaceships campervan hire nz I headed back down south to prepare for the next big adventure.
Living out of a bag can have it’s moments and my thoughts go out to the people who are currently stuck in airports all over Europe and who cannot return home to loved ones etc.
We are scheduled to fly out tomorrow afternoon but by the looks of things it is not looking likely so we are going to have to do a complete reshuffle. From Dubai we may have to do an overland mission to London…so definitely preparing for that!
You will be seeing some fantastic images over the next few months so stay tuned!
Thank you again to all the supporters over the summer seasons and I hope you all have an awesome winter, wherever your missions take you!
Enjoy

Wow today I got to see the craziest thing ever, we walked up to this beautiful little waterfall and there were about 30 seal pups in the water hole playing around with sticks and leaves doing jumps having a ball! Crazy!!! they were so cute!!
The mother seals have been doing this for a few seasons now, but this is the first time I actually got to see it!! its a serious hike for the mothers as it’s easily about 50m up hill from the ocean to the waterfall, over big boulders until they reach this little waterful and have their babies there, its a much safer environment for them. Then when the pups get big enough they swim and slide their way down toward the ocean. Amazing how they found the spot in the first place.
I also have been getting some sick waves, theres been a nice solid south swell the whole time I have been home and have again got my wave quoter up! Kaiks has been rad. Off back to the gold coast tomorrow. Have had so much fun in Enzed once again!
