HAIMONA NGATA – North Harbour BMX

Hi Guys, so a few weeks ago I got the North Shore Times in my letterbox and was sad to read an article about how the North Shore BMX Club had been broken into AGAIN!

I grew up racing in Gisborne, so this really made me sad. Racing and BMX in general was the only thing that appealed to me when I was younger and I would spend every spare second I had down at the track. For kids growing up thinking about getting into freestyle BMX, start racing, so that you can actually learn bike control first ahead of tricks. Learn to be smooth and fast and then tricks will come naturally.

The article said that they had a bunch of stuff stolen, so I thought I would take them down some Dew to cheer them up. It was super awesome to see how many people were there for their first race day of the season. When I was racing there weren’t that many people involved, but it always felt like a family affair and it’s cool to see that this attitude hasn’t changed. I snapped off a few pics and might try and head down there for a ride around the track, but might have to take the helmet and pads though, as there’s a couple of doubles there that are a decent size!

Any kids thinking about getting into BMX racing, all I can say is give it a go! It’s super fun and maybe with a bit of dedication you might be tasting Olympic glory like Sarah Walker.

Choice.

BRAD SMEELE – Momentum Teaser #1

Check out the first little teaser from iwake.com’s new video project ‘Momentum’.

ANGIE KOOPS – Bali Update!!!

Hi guys,

Ahhh I broke my favourite board! I was surfing some solid waves the day before in Bali and then surfed this other spot about half the size but man it still packed a bit of punch.

I did a late drop and the wave snapped it in half, oh wellz. Having the most sickest time though!

Caught up with Silas Hansen a pro surf photographer from NZ who happened to be at Keramas when we were there. He shoots for a NZ mag ‘Kiwi Surf Magazine’ and he has been hanging and shooting us the last few days which has been cool.

I have been surfing a few new spots I have never surfed so it’s been fun. But the surfs a little smaller tomorrow so will be doing a few touro things around Kuta.

Till next time…..

BRAD SMEELE – Parks’ Double or Nothing…

After a short hiatus, the best double up contest of all time is back.

On September 5, 2010, 16 of the worlds best riders gave it everything they’ve got in Central Florida for the Parks’ Double or Nothing Double Up Contest.

The wake was bigger than ever due to a new boat being unveiled for the event — the supercharged Parks Bonifay signature MasterCraft X Star. “I think this wake is what we need to get some new tricks in the books,” Parks said. “Everyone I invited has a legit chance to win. It’s gonna be cool to be out with the boys doing what we do best.”

To get the best conditions, the event occurred on a private ‘secret’ lake. This event was “made for media”, so there were only sponsors, riders and top media members on site. This event wrapped up just in time for the best tricks to also be nominated for the 2010 Wake Awards “Move Of The Year.”

Gutted I could not be there as I had to come back to NZ early due to my shoulder injury but make sure you check out the insane footage!!!!

BRETT BAND – Found one!

…a skatepark that is.

Don’t really know why it took so long, but eventually the right spot popped up and it wasn’t just a childrens playground this time round…

BRETT BAND – ¡Dos blogs en solo dia!

It’s a miracle,

Only because of the weather; somehow the street outside of my window looks like a flooded zone shown on TV in the ‘Breaking News’ – after just 20 minutes of rain.

So…taking time out to get some posts done…I also just got home last night from seeing some real Mexican towns, soo sick to see. This may be a long post :O

Last Wednesday was the MASSSSIVE Mexican celebration of their 100 years independence, and 200 years since their revolution (can’t remember which way round it is), so I went on a trip with loads of International students to Guadalajara and Zacatecas…was good to check them out, that was the real Mexico I came to see.

Well…I am supposed to be throwing on loads of skateboarding footage and photos of my journey…maybe these photos will help explain why it’s not that easy to get much skating done…

But…if you feel like it and enjoy checking out a few weird and wonderful things…then click through the photos and hopefully the description gives a bit of insight…

Cheers,

Hasta luego

ANGIE KOOPS – Bali!!!

Hi guys we are now in Bali!!!. We have been hanging out with our friend and driver Brandan, he has been taking us to lots of different surf spots and filming us all day.  The surf hasn’t been too epic yet but it’s still fun! The water is amazingly warm so it’s so nice to just be in the water! All I have been doing for the last few days is eating and surfing, maybe eating too many banana pancakes :-) Today we checked out a few new spots that I have never been to but it was a bit too windy today, so we have been just chilling and getting ampt for tomorrows early start as it should be good waves!
