KIRK BEYER (Surfer) – End of year Fun for youth

My mate Jonny and I took out some youth on the boat and jetski a few weeks ago as a reward for them doing well at school this year. For some of these guys, it was the first time ever going on a boat and for most it was the first time on a biscuit or waterskis/wakeboard. It was an awesome day even though the weather and wind wasnt ideal, cold weather makes hot lunch on a bbq that much better :)

The schools principal and teachers had a lot of fun celebrating these students success for 2010, and we really enjoyed spending time with the young people who were so stoked to be out there! Fun times!!

SHELLY GOTLIEB (SNOWBOARDER) – Did the Dew!

1st Stop Dew Tour Breckenridge …… course was great – weather was not.

Snowed all day through the semis and finals. Worse weather ever! Especially to hit big jumps, 70 foot monsters.

Anyways I did a great job of botching up my semis runs and fell both of them and ended up a disappointing 8th. But Possum killed it for the Kiwis and got into finals and ended up 5th overall. Stoked for her :)

Boys killed it, check link for the results for all:

Some you win, some you lose, Christmas time now then off to Europe, take care and eat lots a Christmas food xx

Van’s ‘Hook Me Up’ Winners!

Vans ‘Hook me up’ online video contest winners…

1st place: Sunday/Wellington-Ben Forman

This video had a really great vibe about it. It was appealing to watch from not only a BMX point of view but also a cinematic angle. Good clean simple editing and music which complemented the edit with pace and feel. The overall message was clear; it showcased a few friends riding around having fun and enjoying BMX.

Congratulations to Ben for a job well done.

Ben took home 2 pairs of Vans shoes, T-shirts, hoods, hats and some free burgers & Tee’s from BurgerFuel. He’ll also get a swag of Mountain Dew to keep him hyped up for summer! Also an $80.00 voucher for T.Whites bikes.

As a bonus, his video will also be played on burger vision nationwide in all BurgerFuel stores at the start of next year.

2nd place: Mr Puha-Daniel Puha

Daniel has done well to capture his own perception and his own interpretation of what BMX is to him. Individualism is what makes BMX special, you can have your own style and put your own flair on how you do things. Also, those rocket peg manual barspins are crazy; I think there was something like 30 barspins in there. He dedicated this edit to his father, and I’m sure he would have been very proud.

Puha scored a Pair of Vans shoes, some free burger vouchers from BurgerFuel and a swag of Mountain Dew! Also a $50.00 voucher for T.Whites bikes

3rd place:Ryan McCrae-Paul Langlands: Disposition

Technically this video was on point. Also the time and effort used to set up some of the shots as well, lighting etc. It’s good to see people embracing the movements that have cropped up in production as of late, colour treatment and also the use of the now popular plug in twixtor, for those extra slow motion shots.

Of course, you can’t forget to mention Paul Langland’s riding. Well varied and of course Paul is at very at home on dirt. Well done to both Ryan and Paul for a great edit. Ryan nabbed himself a Vans shirt, hat, some free burger vouchers from BurgerFuel and a swag of Mountain Dew! Also a $20.00 voucher for T.Whites bikes

http://vimeo.com/17815972

Thanks to all those that entered, there were loads of fantastic entries! Really cool to see people picking up a video camera and getting out there and clocking footage.  Thanks to the co-sponsors BurgerFuel & Mountain Dew, and New Zealand’s number one BMX shop, T.Whites bikes.

And expect more big things from VANS in New Zealand for 2011.

DAISY THOMAS (SURFER)- Daisy Fields and Point Breaks

Hey!

Now that work has finished I am exploring this wonderful country. A friend and I set off a week ago for a mission north of Tagahzout where I have been living to explore an industrial city but the home of beautiful pottery and endless sheer cliff coastline.

Check out the pics.

Epic artwork on big industrial walls, what better way to brighten up a place!
