BRAD SMEELE (Wakeboarder) NZ Wakeboard Nationals Cancelled..
February 25, 2011 by Brad Smeele (Wakeboarder)
Due to the tragic events of the earthquake in Christchurch on Tuesday – and after consultation with the stakeholders, sponsors and event hosts; Wakeboarding New Zealand (WNZ) have decided to cancel the 2011 LG Electronics Nationals at Lake Crichton, Canterbury, which were to be held on Friday 4th March – Saturday 5th March 2011.
WNZ is very sorry for the inconvenience it causes to all parties, but in light of the recent events, we feel it is not appropriate to proceed.
WNZ has rescheduled the 2011 Nationals to be held at Orakei Korako (Central North Island) on Friday 1st April – Saturday 2nd April 2011. Camping will be available onsite if required. Further details to come.
Our hearts go out to anyone and everyone affected by the Christchurch earthquake. It is amazing to see the support from the whole of NZ and other countries around the world.. To donate either txt ‘quake’ to 333 to make a $3 donation, or 555 to make a $5 donation (Vodafone mobiles only) or go to www.redcross.org.nz to see how you can help.

February 25, 2011 by Brad Smeele (Wakeboarder)
This weekend I am headed down to the Ballistics wakeboard camp at Orakei Korako to coach some of NZ’s up and coming wakeboarding talent.
Looking forward to getting down there and helping to push their riding levels. Hopefully I will be able to get another weekend in before the Nationals to help the young ones get their winning runs together..
I will fill you in on how it went after I get back and will have some photos for you all too.
Have a great weekend!!!
HAIMONA NGATA (Freestyle BMX) ilabb buzzyness’ess
February 24, 2011 by Haimona Ngata (Freestyle BMX), Mountain Dew NZ
The crew over at ilabb are out of control! ha! crazy busy!
Check out this sweet vid from their adventures at the MX nationals, pretty cool way to document the day! Also they’re throwing down a sweet VIP party/ride day at their own personal MX set up down the line, that I’ve been invited to, so that should be fun.
I’ll be doing some filming for them and attempting to ride a bike with a motor which may end in carnage, I’ll be sure to snap some pics! Speaking of pics I’m heading out with my good buddy the wazman this arvo for a ride and am going to be lugging around my camera gear so expect a couple of riding pics in the next day or two! Blaaatt!
BRAD SMEELE (Wakeboarding) Wakedup Double up winner!
February 23, 2011 by Brad Smeele (Wakeboarder)
Last weekends Wakedup Double up wakeboard event was a fun, short and sharp competition.. I drove about 30 Double ups in 3 different boats and watched as a few of NZ’s best riders smashed them apart.
The winner of the even was my boy Antony Colling who came out of retirement to enter the event and ended up walking away with $1,000 cash.
Here is a pic of his winning trick… Thanks to NZwakeboard.com
BRETT BAND (Skateboarder) The consumption is well under way
February 23, 2011 by Brett Band (Skateboarder)
Just over a week ago I received lots of Mountain Dew, and since then, a higher number than a part time employees payslip would show, have most likely been devoured.
I think Boardertown in Botany even had a little giveaway for anyone who came in after they mentioned they had some fresh cans on Facebook.
…both checking out the recycle instructions on the back after an almost ‘shotgun’ performance.
Well, here is a little clip with maybe not the most acceptable choice of vocabulary or liquid content – however it was before I received my Mountain dew initially, so the Dew was about a week late to make the cut.
Some mates put this together – a solid portion of key BPINZ members actually, of a skate we had in town one weekend. It has some very serious skate smooching in it, maybe it’s even too smooch to make it onto the blog! …but enjoy otherwise!
…and for a little insight to one of my favourite places for skateboarding history, here is a old ‘doco’ of Love Park in the heart of Philadelphia – if you are a bit of a skate nerd and have some spare time it is DEFINITELY worth the watch.
