CHRISTY PRIOR (SNOWBOARDER) – Closing day edit at Breck with the CandyGrind crew + pow day on APRIL 26th??
April 27, 2011 by Christy Prior (Snowboarder)
Last day at Breck was a sad sad thing. The realization that the season really is coming to an end becomes apparent but so to does the realisation of what an AMAZING season we have had! Breckenridge had there most snow EVER and we were there to enjoy it. Plus, we were also in Mammoth the day they tipped their record snow fall. How good can it get?
The progression this season has been incredible and the FUN we have had has been through the roof! Thanks to everyone that made this season one of the BEST YET!!!!!! =)
Here is a wee park edit from Breck’s closing day with the CandyGrind crew….. and you know we went and ate our faces off after at Micasa to top it off! What a feast!
And Ular just reminding us that he’s not yet finished, we experienced at least a 2feet pow day at A Basin today, the 26th APRIL?? Really? Hell yeah!!!!
Was kicking myself that I didn’t take my camera up riding but, here are some pictures of the drive over….. SO MUCH SNOW!!!!
Do the DEW!!
BRETT BAND (SKATEBOARDER) – Skating again
April 27, 2011 by Brett Band (Skateboarder)
After a month off from surgery and nothing too do apart from swim and lift heavy things with legs, I am pretty stoked I have been able to have a few miniature skates around the streets and on a few ramps.
If anyone went to the Billabong skate jam you would probably still be frothing over Tommy Fynn’s select few tricks that blew everyone’s mind on the day. Congratulations to Bjorn Johnston who took the title with some consistent skateboarding!
If anyone has a spare moment…check out www.sitka.co.nz it’s a Canadian clothing company that’s just starting out in NZ and has it’s very own store in Newmarket (behind the Rialto Cinemas). They have been shut for a month or so while they’ve been cutting about 4 million pieces of rich old woods to add to the interior decorations. I’ve been in there helping them to set up a couple of areas; they have a really cool wall for their own surf boards and skateboards. Go check it out, you may just end up loving walking around noticing the small details on the floors and walls or purchasing a quality winter jacket.
Photos soon!
MIKE BANCROFT (SKATEBOARDER) – Mikes music clip of the week!
April 21, 2011 by Mike Bancroft (Skateboarder)
Kia’ora all! I’ve got a little idea for you music lovers out there…
I’ma start doing a “Mikes music clip of the week” which will be music videos and songs that have made an impact on my life also with a little story to go with it just too keep it interesting for ya. I’ll start with this one here…
This one here is from one of my all time favorites! IRON MAIDEN! This was the song that made me the NZ air guitar champion a few years ago!
I also loved Maiden so much as a teen that I thought that I’d go for the same hairstyle so I washed my hair and prepared it to be cut like the lead singer Bruces with the short fringe at the front and so off it went but wat I didnt realise was that hair shrinks if you cut it when its wet – I learnt the hard way! The fringe didn’t look flash so off came the rest of the hair! And that was the last time I got a hair cut!
Anyway heres a bit of maiden enjoy!

Keep an eye out for updates.
Also check out the new can from Dew!! Still the same great product inside but they have gone with the black can with the green branding.
I dig it!!
Also it is now easier to open, no need to dig your fingernails in to get under the tab.
CHRISTY PRIOR (SNOWBOARDER) – PBRJ world finals… my nemisis??
April 20, 2011 by Christy Prior (Snowboarder)
So after getting stung $400 for a rental car from LAX – Mammoth myself, Leroy Christensen and his lovely girlfriend also named Kristy arrived at 1am on the day of the PBRJ finals…
Big thanks to our friend Nicola Peters who allowed 6 kiwi’s to crash at hers! Good times…
Registration was at 8am so after a grand total of 5hours sleep were were into practice… At first glance at the set up and we were stoked on the stair feature, thought the middle feature was okay and hated the ‘S’ rail.
I mean, what the hell?!! Turns out first impressions prevailed…
Stair feature was awesome, would have loved to just session that all day!
Qualifiers was super fun, even learnt a new trick! I went to nose press back one out of the down-flat-down bar on the stair set but changed my mind mid may through it and back one’d off the flat over the down.
Next hit I went to do it again as it didn’t feel super clean and this time back one switch up to the down! Stoked.
Middle feature: switch board slide to switch front nose warming up for my finals trick: switch nose press-nolly half cab to normal nose press-back one out.I was feeling it!
Then the ‘S’ rail, if you couldn’t tell from before we were OFF this feature, for one we had never hit a ‘C’ rail in our life let alone a frigging ‘S’ rail. It sucked.
By the time finals came round we were more than ready to throw down… maybe I was a little too keen, as first hit I landed my newly found trick back one switch up to the down but caught an edge after I landed and fell over in the slush…
So went back up to do it again but, started turning my board to early to get the back one around and caught my edge- went down hard splitting my lip and hitting my head. God damm!
Wasn’t to sure what I was up to but my body was on auto pilot so I kept going??? (kinda wish I had knocked myself out cold as then I would have had to sit finals out but instead… )I kept hiking and landing in every which way direction and on everybody part OTHER than my feet?…. Cringe…
To make it worse, this was only the second time I have competed in the championships and the first time I did it I did the exact same thing!? My nemisis… I think YES!
At lest my bail made it into the video… check it first bail in the bail section… haha. Cringe, again.
All and all, I still have to admit it was fun. These things happen and you can’t do anything about but come back and try again next year?
Good crew, sun was out and we are still smiling as snowboarding is FUNNN, even when sometimes its hurts something chronic! Hahah.
Later that afternoon a couple more kiwi’s came and joined the party… Brett Wilson, Chris Green and Keelan Cuyler rolled into town thought we were having a chill night… think again!!
Good times! Below… Chris getting his blog on for Sponsorthis?, a very sun burnt Brett? And of course the lovely, Nikki! =)

I was supose to go on to Tahoe to film from here but… plans changed. Luckily I got a ride back to Breckenridge with these awesome ladies!
Thanks again guys, saved my butt big time! =) Melissa, Kylie and Courtney!
And the convoy… So much for our 6am departure. The crack of noon it was! Followed by multiple stops, a 14hour drive turned into a 19 and a half hour mission! But, we made it, arrived back home in Breck at 6.30am.

Somewhere in the Nevada desert….
Back at home (well, my American home) shredding Breckenrige for the mean time! Whoop!
Do the DEW! =)
Party time it was?
