BRETT BAND (SKATEBOARDER) – Kids like Mountain Dew, and Gobstoppers

Howdy,

Been helping my mate Simon at his skate schools. Went out to the old familiar Bucklands Beach Intermediate school and set up a couple ‘obstacles’ on the courts for the kids and us.

A skate school is basically a fancy name to make it sound like some sort of learning happens, but everyone kind of just skates and the kids usually get something free…stickers at the least.

The school told Simon that the kids can’t skate the benches or stairs, which was cool. At least I had my turn as a grommie getting chased out of that school by the teachers on the weekends. Here’s a few photos of the groms frothing…

I’m not sure how old Nathan is, but he is definitely too young to be doing kickflips as proper as he was, that thing was popped, flicked and caught well beyond his years I was pretty amazed. He even varial heeled off the kicker too…

Nathan also likes to eat giant Gobstoppers, and if you didn’t notice, he can skate really well with one in hand (check the back hand in the photo of him kickflipping).

This grommie was pretty shy at first, but he wasn’t shy when it came to Doing the Dew.

Happy all round, he got to skate aaand rehydrate with cool coloured liquid. Dang!

MIKE BANCROFT (Skateboarder) – Do The Dew

Nothing like a few Dews down at the park on a sunday arvo….

Oh also if you haven’t tried the new Dew flavours yet and your keen. Hit me up if you see me! I usually got a couple up me sleeve…

SHELLY GOTLIEB (SNOWBOARDER) – For some fun until the snow comes

If there was a hill and no cars I’d try it. It would be like some fun pow turns. Makes me wish I could surf, then I’d longboard like this!

SHELLY GOTLIEB (SNOWBOARDER) – French Cafe loves Mountain Dew

So my boyfriend took the new Mountain Dew flavours to his work at the French Cafe in Mt Eden. They were so into it that one of the chef’s whipped up some “Mountain Dew Livewire” sorbet!

Apparently it was delicious, I didn’t get to try but it looks yum. Who would of known huh?  Thanks French Cafe

looks pretty good aye

BRETT BAND (SKATEBOARDER) – Cold as winter!

It is pretty dang cold and rainy these days, at least there is relief in knowing the big old Pinball Skatepark will be lighting up, making noises and plunging you around the park……all under one big water proof roof for a few weeks of this tragic skateboarding weather – ‘long as the tornado’s hold out.

…If you are reading this and haven’t heard about the Pinball Skatepark, or noticed the website about it after being redirected from this one, there is one very original skatepark which simulates skateboarding and playing Pinball. And it’s being built this very minute. If you have not stopped to picture the phenomenal possibilities, you should think, “skateboarder inside live Pinball machine”. If that doesn’t work you probably need to take your board over and try it out when it’s open!

If I could describe it better, I would make unconventional proclamations like, “it is probably more fun than your own skatepark and temporarily better than your local street spot “, “your mum will be upset if you don’t make it to the opening” and “it is going to be better than the 2011 Rugby World Cup”.

In other news, the Sitka Street store is open in New Market and selling some quality product. Careful if you purchase some of their clothing you may have an influx of friends hastling you for your new item.

Check out the skate wall I helped design… can you spot the Dew??

SHELLY GOTLIEB (SNOWBOARDER) – Papas Pizza like Mt Dewski

My powers that be distributed the dewski this weekend where and when I could. First stop was my local hang out PAPAS PIZZA KINSGLAND. They were all about it,  it helped them serve all the pizza and pasta eaters. ummmm YUM. Pizza Paaasta.

Then off I went to the Burton’s wee snowboard comp for grommies they had at Snow Planet. It was dress up and free stickers and give aways, everyone loves stickers, hehe!! In fact if you want some of your own made up go to this spot to get them custom made called Custom Stickers!

Anyways so the Planet was super fun, got a wee jump going on, a few rails and so on. Nick Brown, LPR and Robett were all there to shred with the kids, was a fun lil nite shred.

BRAD SMEELE (WAKEBOARDER) – NZ Boat Show Rail Jam

Last weekend the Jetpilot Crew and WNZ were at the NZ boat show putting on a Rail Jam demo and raising funds for the NZ team to go to the World Champs in Italy

It was fun to session the A-Frame and the pool was a sweet size at 48m long by 12m wide, there was a kicker in there too so I got a little creative with the kicker to A-Frame transfer.

The pull of the winch was a good test for my shoulder strength and it seemed to hold up well and felt nice and strong. Looks like I am going to be booking a flight soon! I will be going to Wales for Wakestock before making my way to Milan for the World Champs in July, I will fill you in on other travel plans as they pop up.
