Here’s another Cardrona video to pass the time by. Stef is one of the funnest people to shred with and it will be sad not to have him on the mountain when he goes for his op. At least its only a few weeks then he will be back good as new and it will be smiles all round!
Good luck Stef!
Weow! …stoked about my new purchase, just waiting for the product to arrive. A fancy little grey cuboid with cartoon eye Go-Pro camera that can fit into a 375ml can of Moutain Dew 2 fold! Looking forward to playing around with my new Go-Pro, getting some cool angles, it also has a suction grip so I’ll be getting some next level viewing from underneath my board!
Went to Snow Planet to film a ‘Sponsor Me’ tape today …. just jokes, I went there to make sure I could stand up all the way to the bottom (a few collisions with the snow happened for sure) because I’m off to Wanaka in just over a week for something a bit different. The Go-Pro will be in my pocket, and I’ll also pop down to the skatepark in Queenstown for a skate, never been there, so should be fun!
This Saturday, there is a “Game of Skate” competition at the Amazon Boardstore in Parnell. It’ll be good, at the very least you will get to look at (almost) nude pictures of bikini babes on the outside wall. But if that is all you are planning on seeing there is probably better places for that? Here’s the list of skater competing below.
I made a killer Spag’bol and could not be stopped once the notorious Electro Shock can came out. Such a hearty combo.
What goes down when there is no snowboarding allowed…

Truth is… Not a lot!
Firstly, good news from the specialist no operation needed on my shoulder! How stoked was I!! Between a grade 3 and grade 4 separation of my left shoulder so still, no real shredding for the rest of the season but at least I should be able to get back on the snow for the last week or so of spring. Anything is better than nothing!
Seth curling my hair? He was weirdly a natural at it… I now have my suspicions!
In the mean time… flew back up to Auckland to see the specialist and thought it would be best if I chilled up here with my family while I healed. This way, reducing any temptation to snowboard cause if I went back to Wanaka, you and me both know shredding would be going down somewhere along the line and I’ve already learned the hard way about getting back into it before injuries are healed! So, now I’ll be good…

A bit of a change of senerary.
Above: Murawi beach, below: Orewa beach.
I think it is always good to further yourself academically as well as physically and it also is a great distraction when you are injured, time goes so much faster! I have been a super nerd lately! Not much else to do on the farm either haha. So long as you have your fridge full of Mountain Dew you can pump out hours on end! =)
Annnnd, thats about it.
Shred some for me! =)
Winter Games has been the talk of the town, Big Air went down on Wednesday at Cardrona Ski resort. The jump was a little windy but still pretty fun, check out the episode below.
Winter Games Slopestyle at Snow Park

So I just typed up a huge update and then my browser decided to close, argh. Basically said I’m part of this big Puma campaign starting next month here in Auckland, they’re building a nightclub and it will be awesome, it’s called Puma Social, see more here. Here’s a quick pic of some containers going in for the pop up retail store and my lunch the other day, Bfuel X Dew, awesome!
More news coming soon!!
When I got to Texas a couple of weeks ago I decided to purchase myself a truck to use for my road tour. After looking around a little, I found this 97 Ford F150 with a 4.6L V8 under the hood.
When I was only a few days from leaving Texas I got a phone call from my good friend Jesse James saying he had lost his job at the summer camp he was working at. So I told him to book a flight to Dallas so he could join me on the road.
After picking him up we started making our way to the 1st stop of my tour, Hot Springs, Arkansas. However the biggest downfall this truck had was its lack of air conditioning, the Texas heat was brutal but we were just stoked to be on the road. Unfortunately when we stopped off for some food and free WiFi at McDonalds, the truck refused to start back up. We were stuck in a small town called Arkadelphia, (I’m guessing they were trying to be the Arkansas version of Philadelphia).
We took a look under the hood and decided that it needed a new battery, luckily there was a big Wal Mart right next door so I went and bought a new battery and terminals. We put those in and it still wouldn’t start, so I made the decision to get a tow truck to take us the rest of the way to Hot Springs, as I needed to be there the next morning for my first coaching clinic at Diamond Lakes Watersports. $170 later we made it to Hot Springs and ditched the Truck at the nearest mechanic.
The next day I got a quote from the mechanic saying it was going to cost me $900 to fix as the air conditioning compressor had blown out and locked up, this ment that the belt would not turn which was stopping the starter motor, alternator, water pump and pretty much everything else in the truck. $900 was a little too steep for my budget so I went to get a second opinion at another place down the road. After ordering a new part in and ripping out the old A/C compressor they managed to get the job done for about $225, granted that still ment there was no air conditioning, but all I was worried about was having a working truck.
Back on the road again and on our way to Nashville, Tennessee, we stopped off at a gas station to fill up when I noticed radiator coolant almost pouring out from under the car. At this point I was starting to think I bought myself a lemon, and that this truck would cost me much more than what I paid for it.
We had no choice but to keep going, stopping every 40 or 50 miles to top up the radiator with water. It slowed our trip down a little but we still managed to make it to Nashville by about 10pm. After a night out on Nashville we drove down to Winchester, Tennessee, to meet up with the crew from Pirates Cove where my next coaching clinic was scheduled. I got a mechanic to take a quick look at my truck to see if he could see where the leak was coming from, he told me it was the ‘Heater Core’ that was leaking and that it would cost about $200 to fix. However, he also said there was a way to just bypass it and it would mean I had no heater in the truck, considering I have no plans of being anywhere cold enough to justify using a heater I decided on that option. So one of the boys from Pirates Cove cut one hose and pulled another one off and bypassed the heater core solving our leaky problem.
The truck is now running like a champion and the tour is going smoothly. I will have another update shortly.
I guess there is far more to talk about with snowboarding than skating recently…while some places were getting 4 foot (or something) of snow, Auckland was setting records with 4 minutes of snow.
So skateboarding has been at a wee halt to admire the centennial anniversary (if it even snows that often here?) of Auckland’s snow fall.
However this fella and his other fellas have been making the most of all types of weather…
