Well I am home in Christchurch for a couple of days. I flew up to Auckland on Thursday night and got a ride to The Mount on Friday….this is where the women’s Clean and Clear 6 star competition was held…….the first day of competition was 0.5 metre swell if that….. I managed to get through my first heat with a couple of tiny waves that I caught…….the next day I happened to be in the first 1/4 final of the day which started at 8.am the waves where extremely difficult to ride as it was super low tide small and closing out……mmmm not my favourite wave that’s for sure……it was disappointing as I knew later in the day the swell was predicted to rise with the incoming tide………o well that is competitions for you…..you have to just give everything a go…….I gave it my best to find a ridable wave but no luck came my way that day…..I caught a couple of waves that only allowed me to get a quick half turn in……I was just hoping a wave would come my way as the time ticked on…….unfortunately nothing came my way!!
Surfing competitions can be very frustrating in small unridable waves because all you want to do is show off your surfing!!!
Sure enough later in the day with the incoming tide the waves got to about a metre in size and went to a better shape that had a face to ride and do turns………curl magazine told me they got a few photos of me free surfing and i managed to do a few interviews whilst i was in the mount. clean and clear where there and the MTV crew interviewed me for a possible advert…
Raglan competition is next week so i am praying for some waves so i can show my stuff off
