A new ride and the end of an era at Victoria Park! (with pics)

haimona-ngata-profile-clear-70-newAhoy Hoy internet world!  So’s I just got a bloody DOOPPEEE new frame from Subrosa, it’s called the Pandora DTT!  DTT standing for double Top Tube!  Something a lil bit different; back in the day I owned quite a few DTT bike frames and they were awesome, but by the early 90′s they were slowly getting phased out of BMX, mostly because bike frames became alot more simple and weight concious.

Well fast forward to 2009 and Subrosa is the only company to bring back the DTT, and the bikes are made so much more lighter now, and I have to say it rides awesome! Great Timing cause I dropped it off at burgerfuel and a few days later I had a one of a kind Subrosa DTT with custom Burger Fuel paint job!  Super stoked!  It came out awesome and I gotta say a big thanks to the crew at Burger Fuel for pimpin my ride! AGAIN!! ahahahaha

On a sadder note, over the past 6 months or so there’s been talk about Auckland’s only central skatepark, Victoria Park being torn down, well I hate tol say it, but it’s true, myself and a couple of other riders have been attending meetings with the Auckland City Council and the firm who are doing the new motorway tunnel which is running under Victoria Park, and RIGHT THROUGH THE SKATEPARK!  So, they are gonna have to take the park away, BUT they are footing the bill for an amazing new park to be built about 300 metres down the road away from where all the construction work is going to take place.

So that’s a positive that they’re keen to make a new park happen, BUT it still sucks that the ramps are gonna be demolished, I remember when they were first put there, myself and a few buddies would go down at like 5 in the morn and jump the fence and ride the ramps in the dark before the skaters and council workers got there and told us to leave. That and the fact that the ramps are still in pretty good condition, and its coming into summer and the council reckons that they’re gonna start work on the new park in December, but who knows!  Here’s some pics that I shot today while I was down there having a lil roll, the first crew doing some digging to test the soil, boohoo!!!
