baker/stevens pass photos shoots, showcase showdown

Just got back from an epic week down in the states with Anthony Leffelaar and NZ snowboarder Magazine senior photographer Greg Roebuck. In one week we got every type of weather, pouring rain to perfect calm blue sky to blizzard snow and 2 foot of fresh. We made the most of very random weather and managed to pull together heaps of very different shots including sick pillow lines, back bountry booters, construction side window gaps, cliffs, river gaps, skate park jibbing and of course token lifestyle shots. Greg is the best photographer as long as he has a small stash at all times. If you ever go on a shoot with him I’d recommend getting hold of some and keeping it until he runs out. Then you’ll be guaranteed banging shots.

Ants and I got straight back to Whistler and competed in the “Showcase Showdown” pipestyle contest. Definitely the most unique contest I’ve ever seen. It consists of 2 huge hips into a superpipe. Straight after a pipe hit is 2 “C” boxes up opposite walls of the pipe followed by 3 rails, down bar, flat-down-flat box and a huge flat box-gap-downbox. It’s one of the 4 biggest comps on the Canadain calendar with $25,000 in cash. It was awesome to session the course and the after party was banging. NZa??s Jake Koia killed it coming in second place.

Whistler is dumping snow again making some sick powder days. Got a new axle on the jeep so it up and running smooth again. To support my snowboard addiction I’ve started coaching for a Japanese freestyle athele program ( www.csbawhistler.com) and Pro Ride Snowboard Camp (www.pro-ride.com). Lisa is also coaching for Pro Ride and Rad Galz ( www.radgalz.com)

Check back soon.
