The month of May will surely be over soon and that means ski field openings, ice cream headaches and after dark skate missions a plenty.
On Thursday night coming up the Canterbury Univerisity Boardriders are hosting their Jib the Common Room at the University bar. One of those nights that just has to be seen to be believed! Also, this weekend coming up will see the Kaikoura Cold Water Classic in action. The contest starts on Friday and is most likely out at either Maungamanu or Meatworks on the Kaikoura coast. So check it out if you are procrastinating those end of term assignments or just need an excuse to visit the beautiful Kaikoura. A couple or mates and myself have had some decent days up there at Kahutara and Muanga. So much fun to be had on the points!
The surf around Christchurch has been minimal of late, last week there was some decent North swell for a couple of days which saw Taylor’s Mistake packed out as normal. Good to see the warm wetties, gloves and booties are out in full force! I had the pleasure of a trip up to Auckland a few weeks ago and the water was so warm! For me anyway, had a very small but fun 1 foot day surfing Maori Bay and a couple of other days which were more characteristic of the place I love so much. I hope those great home cooked dinners are keeping you toasty.
Got to keep fit for the snow though, so thats what I’ll be trying to do over these next few weeks, surfing anything that pops up along the way, even concrete! Last but not least a BIIIIIIG Shout out to Jo at Urban Surf in Sumner as well as to the dudes and dudettes at Gravis for hooking us up, best clothes, bags and shoes in town this winter.
Thanks! And as always, thanks MD!
