ANGIE KOOPS – Bali pics

Hi Guys,

Well I’m home from Bali and it was a really awesome trip! Managed to come home in one piece, as this time I did’nt leave any skin on the reef, which was actually really surprising.

We had some really fun surf for a couple of days, but most of the time is was small to medium but always a little wave to have fun on. It’s just so good to be in warm water.

Bali is definitely a unique place and you see the most crazy amazing things over there, it’s hard to know where to begin. I managed to get charged at by two elephants walking along the beach! Ha….well they charged at the dogs that were barking at them and I happened to be trying to get a photograph and was right in their way. I could’nt help but scream and run as fast as I could back to the safety of the Warung. From then on the Balinese would tease me and every now and then would do a little squeal looking straight at me smiling :)

After that we went to ride on the elephants and I guess I was a little more anxious around them after that, but far it was amazing. Such incredible creatures! We saw heaps of wildlife and the Bali culture, such a cool place.

Tomorrow I’m off to Sydney….busy busy! I am going to the last comp of the Jesus Pro Series which should be good, as apparently I’m in 2nd place not far from winning and it’s all down to this last comp. So it should be good fun!

ANGIE KOOPS – Bali Update!!!

Hi guys,

Ahhh I broke my favourite board! I was surfing some solid waves the day before in Bali and then surfed this other spot about half the size but man it still packed a bit of punch.

I did a late drop and the wave snapped it in half, oh wellz. Having the most sickest time though!

Caught up with Silas Hansen a pro surf photographer from NZ who happened to be at Keramas when we were there. He shoots for a NZ mag ‘Kiwi Surf Magazine’ and he has been hanging and shooting us the last few days which has been cool.

I have been surfing a few new spots I have never surfed so it’s been fun. But the surfs a little smaller tomorrow so will be doing a few touro things around Kuta.

Till next time…..

ANGIE KOOPS – Bali!!!

Hi guys we are now in Bali!!!. We have been hanging out with our friend and driver Brandan, he has been taking us to lots of different surf spots and filming us all day.  The surf hasn’t been too epic yet but it’s still fun! The water is amazingly warm so it’s so nice to just be in the water! All I have been doing for the last few days is eating and surfing, maybe eating too many banana pancakes :-) Today we checked out a few new spots that I have never been to but it was a bit too windy today, so we have been just chilling and getting ampt for tomorrows early start as it should be good waves!

ANGIE KOOPS – Passport Dramas!

I’ve had a few dramas with getting my Passport all sorted for my upcoming trip to Bali . . .  . so originally I had plenty of time to get my passport sorted under the standard 10 working days – I had filled my forms out all good and got a professional passport photo taken at the post office where they guarantee their photos BUT I must have got a learner that day and she took one that wasn’t the right dimensions and she cut a few millimetres off my shoulders and that ended up being a costly mistake!!!

So that meant that I had to send it urgent with a nasty extra fee on top without knowing whether it will get to me on time now!  So I was a little anxious and was checking the mail box way too many times. I rang the NZ passport office and they told it had sent, hurray!! But then it still didn’t arrive!!! I found out the person dropping it off couldn’t find my house which is really bizarre because it’s the easiest house in the world to find! Dramas!!!

Anyway I eventually received it after waiting for it at the depot, well actually Dru did because I was dropping off mum at the airport. Ahhh now I can get excited!!! Yeahh Bali!!

ANGIE KOOPS – Going to Bali

I’m so excited!!!! On the 15th Dru and I are going to Bali!!  We are going to go over to hopefully get some good video footage, pics and just work on our surfing!  I will let ya know more soon!

ANGIE KOOPS – Finalist at Coffs Jesusproam surfing Comp

Last Thursday we went down to Coffs to get ready for the Jesuspro surf comp but on the way through we stopped off at Iluka for a surf. It was fun and I have never been so it was sick just to check it all out. When we arrived in Coffs we met up with Thandi, Bach, Winni and Ice and we all went for a surf and stayed in our cars at the local park.

The surf was pretty average the first few days we were there but were able to have a little grovel or 2. The Hoey Moey pretty much became our local while we were there; it was so good, the $5.90 dinner meals went down like a treat!

The comp was so good, the Christian surfers put it all on and did amazing jobs.  It was the first comp I’ve been to where all the food was free there were amazing prizes which brought in alot of good surfers – first prize for the men and women was $1000. I had a few really tough heats and I was so stoked to get through them.  I managed to get a couple of good waves later in the heat and I made it to the finals which I had a bit of a shocker in but in all I was stoked it make the final and place 4th. Dru also made the finals and was surfing really sick.

ANGIE KOOPS – QLD titles

Thought I would give you an update on the QLD titles comp I had on the weekend, I managed to get to the semifinals and then unfortunatly was really out of rhythm in that heat. But I am actually really stoked I got to the semis, because the surf was so small and inconsistent and my earlier rounds I had some really stacked heats.  So I’m ampt for the next comps. I’ve got a new attitude towards my comps now and its already helping.

Heading to Taffe tomorrow where we will be training from 9am through to 3pm doing running weights boxing etc. such great training and I’m enjoying the personal training course so much practical involved which is great. I’m going to be so fit after this course.

ANGIE KOOPS – QLD Comp coming up this weekend

Hi guys I have the QLD Womens Surf Competition on the weekend, so I’m really excited to surf in it – I’m just going to have fun with it! I have been doing heaps of surfing lately so that’s good and I’ve also been doing a lot of filming for a video competition coming up. Its pretty amazing because Dru and I have a professional videographer from Australian Surfing Life magazine helping us, he’s such a legend for wanting to helps us out with it! We are so stoked!  I will tell you more about the video stuff soon!
