Dero Golf

Saturday the 5th of December hosted the 6th annual Dero Golf tournament. The dress code this year was 80′s Rockstars. Rob Mitchell is to blame for this extremely competitive, exciting, fun and quite boozy event. Its held at Summer Hills golf course in Mount Maunganui…epic spot! It was my first trip to Dero Golf and Rob picked me up from the airport with a car full of booze and a big roaster for the pig and lamb…I could tell it was going to be good times.

On Saturday morning I managed to get a surf in with Rob and Tim then it was up to the course the get it all setup. Animals on the spit, kegs tapped, 80′s gears ready to go…

With 2 kegs finished, registration complete, weather clearing, it was time for the teams to spread out around the course. I think as soon as we got to the tee the clouds burnt off and it turned into a mean day of crazy golf. With the Ambrose style of play things went quite well. My team consisted of Karl Dunham, fellow MD Team member Shelly Gotlieb, Vic and Matt. Think we drew with the team we were playing with and we were a couple of shots off the pace at the end. Hopefully Shelly puts a few pics up because my battery went flat…
Cheers to Pete at Summer hills golf course and to Rob for putting the effort in to organise the event. Chur Chur… looking forward to next year!

So the snow has all but melted here in Queenstown. What to do? A few of the crew down here decided to try their luck at a bit of fly fishing… If anyone feels like sharing some good spots down these ways let me know! Stay posted for the pics of some big tasty trout!! Chur

Final sesh up Remarks with Reasonfilms

JP up at Remarks once again hooked it up for us and gave Ben (Reasonfilms), Nick Hyne, Karl Dunham, Jordan Reherer and myself a ride up to the park on the cat. It was epic weather and there was even a lil bit of fresh snow! Check out the footage by clicking here:

Methven Big Air is on this weekend

THIS SATURDAY. The Methven Big Air is on and should have a solid field of riders. With the Surf Snow Cup on during the week the Big Air will be an epic way to finish it. Surf Snow Cup 2009

Sup. So this week I was going to be attending the Surf Snow Cup that is being held at Mt Hutt and Chch…but I never heard back from the organisers…..hmmm. Anyways the plan was for the snowboarding to be held up at Mt Hutt and run a slopestyle comp. Then the boys would head out to the coast and hopefully score some waves…wherever they could. The overall winner will be the rider who scores best in both events. There are a few Ozzy shredders doing it so the level should be pretty high! Surf snow cup 2009

sup. On the 21st-26th of september the surf snow cup comp will be happening at Mt Hutt and Brighton. There is a 2 day window for the slopestyle to happen and a 4 day window for some swell to roll into chch. The riders are staying at the blue pub in methven and on the 26th is the Methven big air…should be a sick week of surf and snow action! I’ll keep ya posted on what happens. chur

Rainbow Rail jam/mini air

Rainbow Ski area had their Rail Jam/Mini Air on Saturday. I was up in Nelson on a bit of a road trip and made it up there to check it out. I havn’t been to rainbow in about 8 years so it was good to go back. Chris from Cheapskates in Nelson had set up some small jumps and a couple of small rails for the local boys to throw down on. In the end Sam Burton won the open division with Jason Hylkema getting second. My sister came up with me and entered her first comp and got second in the Open Woman, yeow!! haha. Rainbow is a sick little hill so if you get the chance go check it out. Chur
