Cheers Samantha for the article!
Wow, what a full on 10 days! I can’t believe how many perfect waves we scored… everywhere we went the locals would say “this is the best surf and best weather we have had a months!” – stoked even the wind and the waves obeyed!
Over the days we ended up surfing Raglan Manu bay, Matakana Island, Stent Rd, Back Beach, Waiwakio, and the side of Mt Taranaki (wetsuits in snow not a warm plan, no booties a very dumb plan)
So the filming is complete! Now its down to the editors to make us look good!
I can’t post any of the photo’s untill the movie and articles are released but I’ll be sure to put em up as soon as possible.
Cheers Mountain Dew for making the trip possible for me!
It has begun! I drove to Auckland today and met the 7 other surfers with their 15 boards, and the 6 person film crew. We are now camped out in Raglan but mobile to head wherever the surf is best in NZ over the next 10days!!
We are filming FLUX which will be the next Christian surfers feature film – A movie about longboarding, people, and life.
Im really looking forward to it aye, will keep you guys updated with photos and info of where we will be… You could come get in the movie or just get a Dew.
Over and out
Kirk
The secret is out! Code Red has been spilled out accross Wellington… and I think im already addicted..
We have been going hard on the Red stuff and enjoying every sip! Have you tried it yet?
Inside Tora (Wairarapa) was the scene for our Wellington Boardriders Club contest on Saturday. Competitors opted for a ‘Skins’ format and the hardy entry card went about the endurance event that is a skins (instant knockout) contest. The waves were a consistent 3 foot and the wind was relatively light. The perfect start to a long weekend!
Coming out on top with three heat wins in a row and the highest scoring wave of the event (8.8 out of a possible 10) was club member Darryl King of Houghton Bay. Congratulations to Darryl and well done to all competitors for participating. Points will be allocated and posted on our club points tally page shortly. Thanks to Rob for the PA and Waitaki Surf Co for the wax.
Wellington Groms are increasing in number and skill, wont be long before we have a team representing at the nationals again!!
Its that time of year again! The Wellington Battle of The Bands are about to kick off this weekend with heat one.
Hosted by Zeal, The Battle Of The Bands is a competition for young bands to battle it out. They get 12 minutes to perform 2 original songs to the judges and audience!
So far there are 21 bands entered – If you are in a band its not too late to enter!! If you are keen to head along to watch the competition then Heat one is this friday 14th May, Heat two 21st May and The Finals will be 28th May!
There are great prizes up for grabs! Including Mountain Dew ofcourse, there’s a full fridge on stage!
See you there!!

StreetSoundz was packed from open till close on the weekend because of their massive annual sale! There were some super cheap deals going down that people just couldn’t turn down. With a Mountain Dew as you walk in, good sounds and friendly help – shopping was made easy! Check these guys out – they slept outside so they were first in line and got a free sub woofer!
The shop was hard to miss with the huge Mountain Dew can outside on the Basin Reserve, and the mean soundz were hard to choose from with so many choices!

On Saturday there was a ‘Sound Off’ competition where anyone could enter their car and sound system! The Panasonic truck came down to show off and to measure who’s car produced the loudest sound. A Subaru Legacy with 6 15″subs won the contest with a top volume of 150DB!!
