HAIMONA NGATA (Freestyle BMX) ilabb buzzyness’ess
February 24, 2011 by Haimona Ngata (Freestyle BMX), Mountain Dew NZ
The crew over at ilabb are out of control! ha! crazy busy!
Check out this sweet vid from their adventures at the MX nationals, pretty cool way to document the day! Also they’re throwing down a sweet VIP party/ride day at their own personal MX set up down the line, that I’ve been invited to, so that should be fun.
I’ll be doing some filming for them and attempting to ride a bike with a motor which may end in carnage, I’ll be sure to snap some pics! Speaking of pics I’m heading out with my good buddy the wazman this arvo for a ride and am going to be lugging around my camera gear so expect a couple of riding pics in the next day or two! Blaaatt!
SHELLY GOTLIEB (Snowboarder) Finals day – Spain
February 2, 2011 by Mountain Dew NZ, Shelly Gotlieb (Snowboarder)
Stoked to say the least, we woke on the day of finals after 100km winds, it was super sunny and no trace of the winds so away we gooooooooo…
So this comp I found a little different but made do. The judges were a little harsh at times and with a slight sketch in my semis run I was in 9th postion, they take 9. Talk about cutting it fine, Stefi killed it with also making finals in 4th position.
When you’re last in quals it gives you a “nothing to lose” attitude so I banged out my first run and landed the shit out of it. I was in 1st for a while then got bumped to 3rd, here I stayed for both runs of finals. So stoked. Stefi rode super good also and had a sick run but just sketched on the last feature. She was in 7th, both of us super stoked!
So Stefi rode super well for boys as always he qualified 1st after semis, no pressure going into finals with that!!!!! He did so well just sketched his double back rodeo tho. Pretty sick riding considering he was super ill the night before with a weird bug.
So after my run and knowing my placing of 3rd, I instantly had this lady with me, can’t remember her name but she told me she now would be with me at all times until i’d done my drug testing ( ha FIS ) so after the awards, NZ flag flying, we were whisked away in a line of minis to go pee in a cup, no shit
Ok so after a press conference that know one really asked any questions ( think they were used to racers not slopestylers ) we went to the drug pee testing spot. Might I add by the way I was busting in my runs to pee, that was like 2 hours ago by now.
I get ushered into this room with all these boxes, my pee lady still with me, I got to go pee in front of the doctor lady so she makes sure i dont do anything sneaky and put other peoples pee in there? Gosh knows how you do that, It was an experience I say, very different and kinda weird but oh well…Go third and that was really all that matters!!
So yea I guess that’s the end of my pee/podium at Spain blog. I hope I opened your eyes to the weird and wonderful world of FIS comps, ha i have to go now, got to get a plane to X Games!
Peace…..

SHELLY GOTLIEB (Snowboarder) La Molina – World Champs
January 28, 2011 by Ambassadors, Mountain Dew NZ, Shelly Gotlieb (Snowboarder)
Ok, so we bailed on Barcelona.. packed up the wagon with boards on the roof and away we went to the mountain of no snow…
They managed to snow make these wee strips down the mountain for runs. This looked funny from afar, dirt and brown hills with these random white strips going down.
FIS comps are what I like to call VERY DIFFERENT, these are run by a company that is not the same as the other comps that I usually do. There was a large majority of Euro racers waltzing around like they owned the place….I fitted right in with them for sure.
So somehow they made a slope course with this lack of snow, don’t know how they did it but they did. We had a monster of a run, 5 rails at the top and 3 large jumps finishing with another rail. We had 2 days of practice to get used to them, one day was called off due to wind but then competition day for us was actually sunny and no wind. Made for a better day that’s for sure.
Ok results from the comp in my next post….
SHELLY GOTLIEB (Snowboarder) More Barcelona…
January 27, 2011 by Mountain Dew NZ, Shelly Gotlieb (Snowboarder)
Howdy world!
Ok, sorry I have been in places with the worst internet ever, kinda a good thing as a break from the techno world is good, no phone, no net, but it does leave you with a lot of things to catch up on when you get back into civilization…. hence the catch up blogs…..
So where did we leave off …. oh that’s right Barcelona…
The crew did the streets’ sights and sounds for a few more days before we left for the mountains. Hyne went for a skate in a rad skate spot.
I found a lady trying to kill her dog……
- awesome market we stumbled upon
Rolled up on this colour explosion, the sickest food market I have seen!
- more goodies
Stefi and I walked the back streets at night, went to the Picasso museum and had lovely tapas dinner deluxe!
Then sladly we had to leave our exciting city of Spain and go to the Mountain of no snow …. to be continued.
SHELLY GOTLIEB (Snowboarder) – Barcelona – Spain!
January 18, 2011 by Mountain Dew NZ, Shelly Gotlieb (Snowboarder)
Well what can I say really?
I am not only lucky enough to pass my days away sliding around on frozen water for fun but I get to travel to amazing new places and see amazing things on the way … Barcelona has been nothing but a overload of new, interesting and exciting, sights, smells and experiences.
We had an awesome crew to cruise the streets on Spain. Enjoy some pics, much more on the way.
SHELLY GOTLIEB (Snowboarder) – Ok so … Laax
January 18, 2011 by Mountain Dew NZ, Shelly Gotlieb (Snowboarder)
I need to catch you up on things, as I haven’t had good internet to upload pics for so long … so much has happened in so little time!!!!
Mmmm so Laax Euro Open, before semis was where we left off…
The weather wasn’t so grand for my day of competing and they didn’t even live stream it on go211.com due to visuals or lack of. Therefore you can tell it was not good competing weather but oh well no excuses, I didn’t put down a run and did not make it through to finals.
Next time I say, well at least I had time to see the sights and sounds of Laax and go explore the Mt with the Kiwi crew that was there, Roly, Stef and a few Ozzie’s in the mix for fun. Was epic!!
Also could watch the boys finals of slope, shit was crazy, doubles left right and center, make sure you watch the replay’s for the runs if you didn’t watch, shit was crazy! The boys killed it.
Had to finish the trip with a stop at the local snow shop that sells Mons Royale. Found Stefi pashing the girls in the ad and there was a random pink mons ninja.
Check it….
Might of had a bottle of cheap Euro wine before this pic was taken? Ok, got to go….. need to catch my flight to Spain!
