VIDEO from my trip to NZ
April 25, 2010 by Angie Koops (Surfer)
I’m so excited!!!! On the 15th Dru and I are going to Bali!! We are going to go over to hopefully get some good video footage, pics and just work on our surfing! I will let ya know more soon!
Last Thursday we went down to Coffs to get ready for the Jesuspro surf comp but on the way through we stopped off at Iluka for a surf. It was fun and I have never been so it was sick just to check it all out. When we arrived in Coffs we met up with Thandi, Bach, Winni and Ice and we all went for a surf and stayed in our cars at the local park.
The surf was pretty average the first few days we were there but were able to have a little grovel or 2. The Hoey Moey pretty much became our local while we were there; it was so good, the $5.90 dinner meals went down like a treat!
The comp was so good, the Christian surfers put it all on and did amazing jobs. It was the first comp I’ve been to where all the food was free there were amazing prizes which brought in alot of good surfers – first prize for the men and women was $1000. I had a few really tough heats and I was so stoked to get through them. I managed to get a couple of good waves later in the heat and I made it to the finals which I had a bit of a shocker in but in all I was stoked it make the final and place 4th. Dru also made the finals and was surfing really sick.
Thought I would give you an update on the QLD titles comp I had on the weekend, I managed to get to the semifinals and then unfortunatly was really out of rhythm in that heat. But I am actually really stoked I got to the semis, because the surf was so small and inconsistent and my earlier rounds I had some really stacked heats. So I’m ampt for the next comps. I’ve got a new attitude towards my comps now and its already helping.
Heading to Taffe tomorrow where we will be training from 9am through to 3pm doing running weights boxing etc. such great training and I’m enjoying the personal training course so much practical involved which is great. I’m going to be so fit after this course.
Hi guys I have the QLD Womens Surf Competition on the weekend, so I’m really excited to surf in it – I’m just going to have fun with it! I have been doing heaps of surfing lately so that’s good and I’ve also been doing a lot of filming for a video competition coming up. Its pretty amazing because Dru and I have a professional videographer from Australian Surfing Life magazine helping us, he’s such a legend for wanting to helps us out with it! We are so stoked! I will tell you more about the video stuff soon!
Hi guys, the surf has been a little small on the Goldy for the past few weeks so we have had to get the old longboards and skaters out. Dru took me to Nerang skate park a few nights ago, it was at night, cold and he didn’t warm up so he hurt his back pretty much straight away but here’s a few snap shots simon from simsurf got.
Check out my new custom board made by Diverse. Dave from Diverse can put any artwork we want or design ourselves on our surfboards. How good is that!! This is my Girls Ride Mean too board inspired by winter and missing the snow!!
Sorry guys I’m definitely over “dew” for an update so here goes. New ASL mag came out a few days ago about the trip I did with the boys to PNG. I didn’t get any surfing pics in there bout a couple of little lifestyle pics. Dru got a great double page stand up barrel pic he was super stoked on so that was great!
Had a super fun last weekend; 4 of us girls went to a fashion/modeling show at a new bar/apartment building. We stayed on the top floor over looking Green Mount in Coolangata. They also had an after party in the Penthouse with a few bands which was heaps of fun.
The next day I had to do a surfing expression session for Diverse surfboards there was about 8 of us who are all sponsored by Diverse surfboards and we had to put a little show on for the contestants and spectators of the event Diverse were running. It was a Japanese event and man some of them just ripped it was so cool to see!
Here’s some video footage of my time in NZ…
