Doing the Dew in Breckenridge January 2, 2010 by Shelly Gotlieb (Snowboarder)

Hi guys, merry christmas and happy new years!  Thought I’d post up some pics of the Dew Tour here in Breckenridge CO last month. It was a fun comp with BIG jumps and nice weather and…… the Kiwis killed it, with Steff Z getting into the finals of the mens Slopestyle – there was some heavy names he was up against and I think he rode amazingly.

Jossi Wells skied away with a silver medal in Skier Pipe which was epic and I managed to make it all the way to the final six in the female slopestyle. I may not have ridden that well in my final runs but it was a great experience and no injuries which I’m always happy about.

First comp of 2010 December 30, 2009 by Kirk Beyer (Surfer)

The Hyundai Pro Longboard Tour is about to begin for 2010!

The first contest is this weekend, 2nd and 3rd of January at Mount Maunganui.

Im heading up on Friday in the van full of heapsa Mountain Dew. Im gonna be walking the beach giving away Mountain Dew when I’m not competiting so come find me for a drink.

The weather report for the weekend is looking pretty good but unfortunately the surf report isn’t looking as flash, check it out below. Im taking a 10′ board for the small waves so that I can atleast stand up if its as small as the report is saying it will be!

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Festive summer season December 9, 2009 by Daisy Thomas (Surfer)

daisy-thomas-profile-clear-70-newKia Ora, Well the dates have been released and summer has begun, so it is now time to rumage around for my bikini and get amped for some NZ summer sun (being sunsmart at the same time of course).

January will be the first event for me of the season along with some tramping/kayaking around the Abel Tasman and visiting of the whanau while I trip up north in my Spaceship.
1On another note, the 350 Climate Action Confrence took place in Copenhagen and it is the most powerful action that has taken place making history.  So anyone who got amongst it should be feeling pretty stoked right now that they are helping to change the way we think about our actions and how it affects this beautiful planet we live on!

Any-who I’m off to work but be sure to check in later for news on up and coming happenings.

If you are in the Christchurch area, make sure you come along to Lake Crichton, just out of Dunsandal, to check out the action and to also grab a cold Dew.  The event is on Saturday the 5th December

Day 4 of the Australasian Bodyboard Titles 09 November 12, 2009 by Friends of Dew

NZ Bodyboarding Team Logo 70Day 4: Waves – 1-2ft, clean swell with light offshore winds, which swung onshore early afternoon and made conditions difficult at best!

Today was the most mellow of all the days so far with John Diamond the only surfer up for the day. After a good samaritan deed that went wrong, John was sporting the good part of a dozen stitches in his chin courtesy of a Brisbane meat head.  John was up around 2pm and by this stage in the day the reasonable morning conditions had got a lot worse and things were a bit hit or miss on the wave front.  John was up against a stacked heat in his Senior Mens semi and surfed as well as the conditions would allow, very narrowly missing out on 2nd place by less than a point!  A top 6 finish for John in his chosen division was an excellent result for 2009.

Making things a little more exciting/dangers was one of Australias notorious Brown Snakes coming out of its burrow mid way through Johns heat and proceeding to slither through the area where the NZ team were set up before a Jarad Ferris lookalike tried to tame it, Steve Irwin style. It was safe to say none of the NZ Team were too keen to tango with one of the deadliest snakes in the world!
