Yo everybody, Just finished Christmas here in beautiful Whistler BC. Lots of good food and drink combined with a visit from Santa made for a fun few days. Nothing beats shredding on a belly full of turkey.
I’ve been super busy with Snowboard Addiction recently. We just released our latest free video. Check it out below.http://www.vimeo.com/8320867
We’ve also got our community page up and runnin which has all the latest SA news http://www.snowboardaddiction.com/community/
Anyways, I’m gonna go grab a bite to eat and then head into town. Fire and Ice show tonight, should be sick.
Catch you all later,
I’ve just spent the last couple of months living out of a bag down in Wanaka all for the love of Snowboarding. It’s like a little reunion down there because the NZ snowboard industry is pretty small and everybody just hangs out, rides competes and parties for a pretty hectic couple of months. Braden Dean a pro snowboarder from Whistler, Canada came down with me this year and helped me run a Snowboard Addiction/All Star Freestyle Camp where we had a bunch of upcoming ridres from the US and helped them compete in several comps including the Burton Open.
What would you do without the tinternet?
Lots of movies that’s for sure. The Wanaka video easy store lets you rent week long movies for $1 on Monday night.
I’ve been living it up and boarding most days down here in Wanaka for the last month or so and the house were staying in doesn’t have the internet. At first it felt really bad but I’m getting kind of used to it now and am starting to realize that most of my emails are crap anyway. YOU DON’T NEED FACEBOOK!
One thing that has definitely been left behind is my blogs, but a friend is now visiting for the Burton Open (which starts today) and he has one of these mobile internet sticks so I’ll try get in the habit of a small blog everyday during the open.
What up MD crew, Nev here with more news from Wanaka. Snow has been dumping up in the high elevations with a good base so far. Snow park opens up July 4th and I am stoked to get up there opening day to check it out. With any luck we’ll get some more snow in the next couple of days.
Snowboard Addiction is going to be hosting it’s winter camp this August, so we can all cross our fingers for an epic snow season to get us all ready. For details on the camp check out the Snowboard Addiction Camps website, http://www.queststore.co.nz
I’ve been working hard on improving the overall coaching program that I have developed over the years and plan on throwing some material out here for all you MD crew exclusively. Specifically the mental aspect of snowboarding and how to continually progress your riding, breaking through your fears and barriers. Keep checking out the site and my posts for more details to follow!
It’s spring now in Whistler and the snow is starting to melt quickly. We still have top to bottom riding and the parks are pretty mint with slushy fun conditions. Here’s a couple of recent pics . . .
Just spent a week down at Northstar resort in Tahoe California. It’s was soooo sunny, my lips are real burnt. Burton is pretty strongly associated with Northstar so I was filming a bunch of new freestyle instructional content for www.SnowboardAddiction.com it’s gonna turn out rad so I’ll put something up here when it’s done.
Whistler is getting dumped on, we had about 60cm in the last few days and a bunch more in the forecast for the next few days. I just picked up a old snowmobile so will be hitting the backcountry pretty hard in the near future. Had my first day out on the new sled yesterday.
Tomorrow I’m off to Korea for 2 weeks to coach a freestyle camp. Check out www.SnowboardAddiction.com to see some of the freestyle techniques we’ll be using. I’ve never been to Asia before so it should be a rad experience. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Whistler’s been getting some amazing sunny weather over the last week or so and surprisingly warm weather for January. Perfect conditions for the black park which is limited to riders with a special pass and helmets are compulsary. The park’s been sick with a combo line of 4 jumps approximately 40ft, 50ft, 50ft and 60ft. Definitely in need of some more snow though for the rest of the resort, it’s looking a bit thin. I’m off to Las Vegas for North Americas biggest snowboard trade show next week to try secure some new funding for a instructional snowboard DVD I’m looking to produce with my company: www.SnowboardAddiction.com
All the new shiz for 2010 will be showcased down there and plently of parties thrown in the mix. I’ll let you know how it goes.
